About the event
You're invited to gather with the church family and friends for the Agape Meal on Maundy Thursday, March 28, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Reminiscent of a meal that may have been shared by early Christians gathered for worship, a simple supper of soup, bread and fruit will be served. (A vegetarian soup option will be offered, too.)
The Agape Meal will conclude with the sharing of Communion at the dinner tables. The service will last about an hour.
Due to the nature of the event, advance reservations are requested and very helpful (though no one will be turned away, of course). Please register on the website or call or email the Church Office (757-478-6848 / office@freemasonstreet.org).
WHAT IS AN AGAPE MEAL? The Agape Meal, also called an Agape Feast, is a fellowship meal and time of worship, a very ancient tradition of the Church. It is open to all and is intended to remind those who participate of the love (agape) of God. In this service, we approach the meal and one another with reverence and anticipation as we celebrate our life together made possible because of Christ's loving sacrifice. It is also a reflection upon the Last Supper, when Jesus gathered with his disciples in the upper room in Jerusalem. We will gather in Christ's love, sing, pray, eat a simple meal and worship through the sharing of communion.
